Elite size and speed. Very quick fist step. Very good strength. Very good initial punch. Elite closing speed. Able to collapse the corner and pocket. Shows he can bend the edge. Good hands, can fight the lineman. Stout in the run game and is a factor. Shown he can play with his hand in dirt and standing up. Shown a variety of pass rushing moves. Makes offense [and coordinator] account for him. Has had coordinators come out and say they’ve game planned around him. Missouri ran the opposite side of Clowney to avoid him.
|Critical Factors [1-9 Scale]|
|BIG PLAY ABILITY||7.5|
Minor off the field issues [speeding]. Some question his work ethic. Game isn’t defined yet, some aspects still raw/developing. More easily knocked down as he plays high. Lacks down to down consistency. Tends to have nagging injuries.
2 time All-SEC First Team. 1 time All-American. Freshman All-American. Clowney is a once in a generation talent without many on the field flaws. He does come with some questions surrounding decision making [off the field] but these could be chalked up to ‘young people problems.’
